It is an emerging tourist destination as well with abundant tourist attractions which include UNESCO World Cultural Heritages of 1,500 year-old royal tombs and fortresses, Korean traditional village, Buddhist temples, forests, lakes, Michelin Guide-introduced arboretums, and more. Daejeon represents the science and technology city in Korea because it has largest R&D Center. Daedok Innopolis aims to be a world-class cluster that will showcase Korea’s most innovative firms. Through close collaboration with industry and the academic community, Daejeon brings the full strengths of Korea working skills to create a dynamic IT hub for foreign and domestic investors. Also, the largest R&D center in korea is located in Daejeon. It is composed of 30 government-founded research institutes, 19 universities, 400 privately funded business R&D centers. Among these are globally recognized R&D institutes namely KAIST, UST, Korea Polytechnic College, and Chungnam National University

Venue : Daejeon Convention Center

Daejeon is a city that attracts a wide array of science and technology related events equipped with infrastructure and facilities to hold large international events. In particular, the Daejeon Convention Center is undoubtedly a key venue of the city. Located in the MICE Culture Complex formed along Gapcheon River, it does not only boast beautiful nature surrounding the Center but is also near many of the city’s attractions including the Hanbit Tower, Hanbit Square, Hanbat Arboretum, and Daejeon Art & Culture Complex. In March 2022, the Daejeon Convention Center Ⅱ was newly completed and numerous international conventions, exhibitions and events have been held.

Daejeon City Tour

The public can experience the abundant science infrastructures of Daejeon in a variety of places: the National Science Museum, Geological Museum, Currency Museum of Korea, Daejeon Observatory, and Natural Heritage Center etc.

Nature has given Daejeon several gifts. The Yuseong Hot Springs is the oldest hot springs in Korea; the Gyejoksan Mountain Red Clay Road is a unique place where you can walk barefoot on a red clay path; the Hanbat Arboretum is a secret garden in the heart of the city; and the Daecheong Lake where you can recharge physically or emotionally amid nature.

Daejeon’s old identities are revealed in the following places. The Dongchundang House possesses the elegance of ancient house; Ppuri(Family Root) Park features the world’s first sculptures that teaches visitors the meaning and history of their family names; the Euneungjeongi Culture Street is a hotspot for families and friends; and Jungang Market is the largest traditional market in central Korea.

There are plenty of fun places to visit in Daejeon, including the Daejeon Culture and Arts District equipped with large stages and art galleries, the EXPO Science Park which commemorates the 1993 Daejeon Expo, and O-world, the largest attraction park in central Korea.
